Alcohol & Drug Rehab & Detox In Newport Beach, Orange County

Newport Beach is one of the wealthiest cities in Orange County. The city’s median income is at $106,801, and several other indicators, including homes that cost a median of $1.56 million and an average credit limit over $80,000, attest to its affluence.

The coastal city is known for sandy beaches, surfing, wine tastings, harbor-front promenades, mansions, and ten miles’ worth of harbor where visitors can fish, swim, and join aquatic sports.
Despite its apparent affluence, Newport Beach is not immune to drug problems. According to the latest report by the Orange County Health Care Agency, Newport Beach registered 223 cases of opioid emergency department visits, or 45 visits annually, and 41 deaths between 2011 and 2015.

The rate of opioid-related overdose deaths in Orange County has remained relatively level between 2011 and 2015, but the rate of opioid-related emergency department visits has more than doubled since 2005. Moreover, there was an increase in the number of deaths that occurred in southern and central regions of the county between 2011 and 2015 (21% and 20%, respectively), while northern cities had an 18% decrease.

What The Community is Doing

The Orange County Health Department has taken steps to prevent opioid and heroin overdose like providing Naloxone kits and prescriptions. Naloxone can be effective in reversing an opioid overdose from prescription pain killers and heroin. Each of these kits contains two vials of naloxone hydrochloride, gloves, alcohol swabs, syringes, and a CPR mask. Free clean syringes are also provided.

Addiction Problems

For some, the addictions begin with teenage experimentation. Teens try drugs or alcohol as part of a pattern of teenage curiosity or rebellion. In time, they find they can no longer control when they use drugs or how much they take.

For others, addictions begin due to workplace pressures. They lean on substances to help them cope with their jobs and the struggles they must deal with every day. In time, the drugs become a critical part of life that they have no control over.

No matter how your addiction began, there are treatments available that can help you get control once more. There are publicly funded and charitable programs that can provide help for free, and there are private-pay options that offer similar support.
