Why Choose Resurgence

Our detox and rehab clinic is in a serene, peaceful location, surrounded by nature, away from life’s everyday stresses. Our programs are tailored specifically to you, focusing on your unique goals, budget and needs, so that you receive the best possible results from your stay with us. We have unique life-skills and vocational training programs, process groups and educational groups, and many types of therapies available to you so that you can get to know and work on yourself, building a stronger, more well-rounded version of you, while you are surrounded by peers in a welcoming, community-oriented environment.

Alcohol Detox Program

Detoxing from alcohol is not as easy as quitting “cold turkey”. In fact, when you stop drinking it can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms including delirium tremens (DTs), especially if you have been drinking a lot, or drinking for a long time. DTs can include high fever, agitation, seizures and hallucinations and can become life-threatening if not treated by medical professionals.

At Resurgence Behavioral Health, we offer a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for detoxing in Tucson, AZ. After your intake screening, you will check in to our detox facility and stay with us as you detox. We will monitor your health and progress 24/7 to ensure you remain safe, and we will provide prescription doses of medications that can help with your cravings, help you rest, and keep you comfortable as the alcohol leaves your system. Once you are stabilized, you can move on into our residential rehab program, located in the same facility, for the next step of your rehabilitation plan.

Drug Detox Program

Depending on which drug you were using, how long you were using it, whether you were mixing it with other substances, and other factors like your medical history and how you are feeling when you enter detox and your mental health, you may want to use a Medically Assisted Treatment program. We will administer prescription doses of FDA-approved medications to help you get through the worst of the withdrawal symptoms, and we will introduce therapy at this time as well to help you with any emotions or trauma that comes up as the drugs leave your system. Our medical team will be there 24 hours a day, there is a nurse practitioner on-site daily, and the head nurse is a certified addictions RN to oversee things. The medications administered will keep you safe, comfortable and relaxed as possible.

If you choose to do a “social detox”, no medications will be administered, but you will still stay in our detox facility, and we will monitor your progress and your health to make sure no serious withdrawal symptoms happen. Staff will be there if you need them, and they will also make sure you are staying hydrated and eating enough healthy food. You will also have access to groups and counselling at this time.

Alcohol Rehab in Tucson

Alcohol addiction affects people from all walks of life, no matter their age, race, gender, or social status. It can take over and destroy relationships, work, and your health. When you are ready to stop drinking once and for all, we can help you.

When you first enter our program in Tucson, our intake procedures include a physical exam, a mental health screening, and an in-depth interview. This will give us the full picture of your health and your level of addiction, and will determine whether we need to use a dual diagnosis treatment. We will also get to know you as a person and find out what your needs and future goals are.

We will use this information to customize a treatment plan with you, that will begin with a detox period and then move into inpatient rehab. Once the alcohol is out of your system you will move into our rehab facility for 30 to 90 days, and live in our sober community-oriented rehab center, attending therapy, educational sessions, peer groups and learning about health and fitness. You will be an active participant in your recovery, learning new skills and gaining sobriety tools that will be with you long after rehab is over. We want you to be able to rest your mind and spirit, while your body gets healthy, and build yourself up into the person you want to be.

Generally speaking, withdrawal symptoms may show up within two to six hours, and peak at about 72 hours, after which you will begin to feel better.

Although it is not an exact science, during your intake procedures we will go over what you can expect so there will be no surprises when you enter our program in Tucson, AZ. Our Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program will help you through the worst of it and keep dangerous withdrawal symptoms from happening. We don’t put a limit on the amount of time you can spend in detox, we want you to be healthy and stabilized before you move on to inpatient rehab.

How Long Is Rehab?

Each of our patients’ rehab programs are completely customized to suit individual needs and goals, and there are many paths you can take. We offer 30-, 60-, and 90-day options for residential treatment, with 30-days being the minimum recommended time. Clients are always encouraged to stay in inpatient care until they feel they are ready to move on into outpatient care, and that date can sometimes change once you are undergoing treatment.

30 Day (Short Term)

30 days is the minimum recommended amount of time for our patients to undergo residential treatment. It is a full month of therapy, process groups, counselling and sober, healthy living, surrounded by peers in a community-oriented facility. There is nutritional support and exercise therapy, and our staff will be available to you 24 hours a day. You will be away from the triggers and temptations you will find at home, finding the time and space you need to reflect upon your life and see things from a new perspective.

Long Term Rehab (60-90 Days)

Long-term rehab is recommended for anybody who is undergoing a dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions, anybody with a history of relapsing, or anybody who feels they need a longer stay for any reason. The focus in residential rehab is on healing and recovery in a safe and relaxing environment. You will gain the skills you need to live a healthy sober life like relapse prevention, vocational skills, and behavior modification. We will connect you to a sober community that will remain with you long after inpatient rehab ends. A longer stay in a Resurgence facility will reduce the risk of relapsing.

Additional Therapies & Addiction Treatments Available:

Resurgence offers much more than the average treatment center. Along with our effective medical detox program, we have therapies, groups, and other programs that can be customized to suit your specific needs and goals. Below, some of these treatment and programs are detailed.

Just Works

Couples Rehab

Addiction can cause couples to drift apart, creating an emotional rift that may be difficult to repair. Some couples begin to feel they can’t enjoy each other’s company, communicate clearly, or spend time together without using drugs or drinking.

This is not an irreparable situation. At Resurgence we offer couples rehab to help you and your partner mend the gap in your relationship and become strong allies in each other’s recovery. You can check in together, and through couple’s therapy alongside your individual addiction treatments couple’s rehab can help you find your way back to the loving relationship you once had, with additional benefits like:

  • A lower chance of separation and divorce, domestic violence, and fighting
  • Learning effective communication and how to support each other and grow together
  • Learning what each others’ triggers are, and how to avoid them
  • Creating a built-in support system in your relationship, and learning how to best assist one another through tough times, even if relapse occurs

Pet Friendly Rehab

Checking into rehab may be a difficult decision if you have a pet you are responsible for. You will have to figure out where they can stay or how to pay for boarding, unnecessary stresses in an already stressful time.

At Resurgence we allow pets, so you don’t have to make that decision. You can bring them along with you. Pets are beneficial for recovery, as they provide a sense of purpose and feelings of self-worth. Animals can give emotional support, stress-relief, as well as companionship and unconditional love. Your pet can be there to support you, improving your physical and mental states of being as you go through rehab in Tucson.

Does My Insurance Have Coverage For Rehab?

Rehab treatment is also covered by insurance. Under the Affordable Care Act of 2010, addiction and mental health services are included as essential health benefits, and at Resurgence, we accept most PPO insurances. Each provider is different, so you will need to verify with your provider which treatments and medications will be covered. We can also customize a plan to help fit any budget, with payment plans for cash clients. Our goal is to make detox and rehabilitation available to everybody who needs it.

MAT

Detoxing from drugs and alcohol is a necessary step in recovery, and it can be uncomfortable and even painful or dangerous if not overseen by medical professionals. At Resurgence Behavioral Health, we can get you through this unpleasant step and on into rehab as quickly and smoothly as possible, keeping you safe and comfortable, using our Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program in Tucson.

MAT is a specific detox program that uses medications, counseling, behavioral therapy and clinical care to make the process of coming off drugs or alcohol as comfortable and easy as possible. The medications given will satisfy the body’s cravings for drugs without any euphoric highs, and will not create any new addictions. You will be under medical supervision around the clock to ensure the medications are doing their job properly and to keep you safe.

When you are in a MAT program, you are seen as a whole patient, meaning we will ensure you are being taken care of not only medically, but emotionally. Our aim in detox and therapy is to get through to the root of your addiction, as well as to treat any co-occurring mental illnesses that may be present. MAT has been proven to improve patient survival rates, and their ability to live a self-directed, sober life after treatment, with a much lower risk of relapsing.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has a focus on modifying behaviors and treating underlying emotional disorders and thought patterns that can lead to destructive behavior. In CBT you will learn the reasons behind your substance dependency and retrain your brain to find new ways to deal with issues as they come up.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a common cognitive behavioral therapy for treating addiction because it emphasizes the social and psychological reasons for substance abuse. It will help you figure out your emotional and socially related reasons for using drugs or drinking, and teach you how to replace negative emotions and behaviors with positive responses.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) challenges thoughts, emotions and responses with logical and positive responses, reasoning that most situations are not inherently good or bad, it just depends on how you think about them. You will learn to live a better and more fulfilling life without drugs or alcohol, and how to alter your perspective for positive results.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Addiction and mental health can be related. For some people mental health disorders and substance use disorders may be related to chemical imbalances in the brain, and for others there may be a genetic predisposition to addiction and mental illness. People with mental illness may try to treat their symptoms by drinking or using drugs which can create a physical dependency over time. Common mental illnesses that present along with addiction include Borderline Personality Disease, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

At Resurgence we use dual diagnosis to treat both mental illness and addiction and get to the root of both issues at the same time, in the same place, with a combination of therapy like CBT or EMDR, and medications.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an approach to treating your symptoms of trauma, anxiety, panic disorders and other psychological issues by reconnecting you with the images, thoughts, and sensations associated with a traumatic incident while you are in a safe environment using dual awareness, where through eye movements, tapping or auditory tones cause you to be aware of two sensations at the same time. This will help your brain become “unstuck”, allowing it to process and file the traumatic memories away normally.

Relapse Prevention

At Resurgence, relapse prevention is a huge part of our curriculum. We teach skills in relapse prevention while you are in residential rehab, providing you with tools to help you deal with pressure, stress, temptation and triggers. Once you are out in the world again though, you may come across times that are more difficult than you were expecting. This is why outpatient programs exist. We could never expect you to walk out of rehab and be 100% “cured” of addiction. Recovery is a lifelong process, and we will be there for you in many ways when you need us.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is for people in Tucson just leaving inpatient rehab, or for those who need extra support and care. In the PHP, you will live outside of our facility but come back for full days of therapy, counselling, groups, and you will have full access to our amenities. You can come up to seven days a week if you need to, and you can stay in the PHP as long as you need, transitioning out when you are ready.

We also have an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that is much more flexible, created to work around your life, work and school schedule. In this program you will live at home and get back to your life, with therapy, groups and medical appointments scheduled in the evenings or weekends, so you will remain fully connected to a supportive sober community.

Some people don’t have a sober-friendly place to go when they leave rehab, and at Resurgence we can recommend sober living homes in your area that will suit your needs. These homes can keep you accountable and provide structure, with strict rules. They will also help you find a more permanent housing solution if you need it.

Resurgence Behavioral Health also has a vibrant, country-wide alumni group that has get-togethers and reunions frequently. You will always have an open invitation to join them on their sober outings, and they are available to chat online at any time. Spending time with this group of like-minded people will create opportunities to forge life-long sober friendships, gain mentorship, and give you the chance to help others as well.

Life Skills Training

Resurgence Behavioral Health has a unique life-skills training program for you to take advantage of during your time with us. We provide training in a set of skills to help you live independently and handle your problems, navigating the challenges of life without the use of drugs or alcohol. You will work on everything from social skills to maintaining a normal routine to cleaning, and you will learn how to take care of your body through nutritional education, exercise, and hygiene. Most importantly, you will gain the confidence to live life the way you want to, taking responsibility for your own actions and preventing relapse.

Vocational Training

Addiction can become a barrier to employment, so at Resurgence we provide vocational training to work with you if you need help entering the workforce. Many people who have substance use disorders have never had a regular job before, and will need to get the basics, like resume building, interviewing skills, and setting and reaching goals. Getting a job will help you establish financial independence, meet new people, work on your social skills, and give you structure to your days, keeping you on track in your sobriety.

Group Therapy

Group therapy at Resurgence in Tucson, AZ is a form of talk therapy that is facilitated by highly trained substance abuse and mental health workers, where groups of patients come together to discuss topics like interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, or mindfulness. Group therapy may seem intimidating at first, but you will find that everybody is there to share and work on the same issues as you, and you can learn how others deal with their problems, put your own issues into perspective, and brainstorm with others to find solutions. It can be a relief to know you are not the only person feeling a certain way or dealing with an issue. You may also find benefit in helping others through their difficult times.

Experiential Therapy

When you are in experiential therapy, you will have an “experience”, like doing art, role-playing, animal care, journaling or heading into the wilderness, and at the same time your therapist will guide you through emotional or traumatizing situations from the past. Since you are experiencing a new or positive experience, your mind will re-frame your emotional responses into something more positive. This therapy is especially effective for substance abuse, grief, PTSD, and anger management.

One on One Therapy

One-on-one therapy, also known as psychotherapy, is a process between you and your therapist, where you talk about issues and figure out ways to improve your overall quality of life. Your therapist is there to help you deal with feelings of unhappiness or hopelessness, or when you are overwhelmed. They can give you strategies to stop unwanted thoughts and behaviors, and because it is one-on-one, your therapist can spend time getting to the root of your specific addiction issues. Even if therapy alone will not solve all your problems, you can learn healthy coping skills like stress reduction and how to handle difficult situations without turning back to substance abuse.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is short-term counseling for family members who want to work on issues like poor communication, trust issues, problematic behaviors, and lack of understanding between family members. We can help you get through stressful times, improve troubled relationships and deepen your connection to one another. When addiction is involved, family members may come to family therapy to learn how to best support and care for their loved one as they recover, and to understand more about addiction.

Trauma Informed Therapy (After PTSD)

Using a trauma-informed methodology in therapy is important for many reasons. At Resurgence, we acknowledge that everybody in our care has likely been through something in their lives that could affect how their treatment is processed. PTSD is a serious condition, and our caregivers are trained to recognize the signs of trauma, avoid re-traumatization, and ensure you feel safe and understood throughout your treatment.

We want to build a safe and transparent relationship with each of our clients, and we work to do so through open decision making, collaboration, and client empowerment. We want you to feel comfortable opening up to us, so we will do everything we can to earn your trust and keep it.

Physical Fitness

Exercise has been proven to improve moods and increase self-esteem alongside all the physical health benefits it provides. When you work out, you feel strong and capable. It is a healthy way to change things up if you are having an off day, keep you on a schedule, and distract you from cravings.

Joining a gym, running club, or sports team will not only keep you busy, but it will also create opportunities to form new friendships with other sober and health-conscious individuals. When you combine physical fitness with regular therapy and medications, you are creating the best possible environment for your mental health and sobriety to thrive.

Off Site Activities

At Resurgence, we know that a change of scenery can sometimes do wonders for mental health, so we frequently extend the opportunity for our clients to join us on excursions into nature, to local attractions or sometimes out to do an activity like bowling or attend church. These excursions are optional, but are fun ways to try something new or visit a place you’ve never been before.
