Alcohol Rehab in Pacific Palisades

Alcohol addiction varies in severity and will present itself differently in each person. Our alcohol addiction programs at Resurgence are customized to find and treat the root cause of each patient’s unique battle with addiction. After completing alcohol detox, patients will transition into an alcohol rehab program where they will explore various types of therapies and services to help them overcome the behavioral, spiritual, and psychological aspects of addiction.

Alcohol rehab can be completed through several levels of care including residential inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), outpatient treatment, and aftercare programs. Inpatient programs allow patients to live at our facility full time where they can separate themselves from the outside world to fully focus on their recovery and have around-the-clock support from our clinicians. Outpatient programs help our patients reintegrate into society successfully while continuing to work on their recovery.

All levels of care will include many of the same types of alcohol addiction therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, group therapy, trauma-informed therapy, and family therapy to name a few. Part of alcohol rehab at Resurgence is helping patients piece back their lives completely through vocational and life skills training which will help them live independently upon completing their program.

How Much Does Rehab Cost?

At Resurgence, every program is customized which will vary in cost. Factors such as level of care, length of treatment, and medications prescribed can affect the cost of your drug or alcohol rehab program. While the costs of rehab may seem high, the costs of not getting help are greater. We also accept most PPO health insurance plans which may cover some or all your rehab needs. Our clinicians can also build a treatment plan around your budget if necessary. Intake specialists are available 24/7 to provide you with a general idea of what a program and cost may look like for you, discuss financing options, or verify your health insurance.

How Long Is Detox?

Generally, most people will complete drug or alcohol detox within a week. Factors such as the severity of addiction, length of addiction, age, weight, sex, type of substance(s) used, and overall health can influence how long it takes the body to detox fully. Most people will begin to feel withdrawal symptoms within hours of their last drink or dose. Withdrawal symptoms tend to peak around the second or third day, after which you will begin to feel better and should resolve within a week or so. Occasionally, some will experience mild, lingering withdrawal symptoms for several weeks or months later, referred to as Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS).

How Long Is Rehab?

Rehab programs vary in length depending on each person’s case. Generally, most of our patients complete all their rehab milestones within 30 days. However, individuals with long-standing or severe addictions may require longer programs, such as our 60-day or 90-day programs, to heal fully. As you progress through treatment, your program’s length or level of care may be adjusted as well. Our most successful patients complete several levels of care throughout their program. We encourage all patients to fully participate in their aftercare programs after completing drug or alcohol rehab as well.

30 Day (Short Term)

Short-term rehab at Resurgence lasts 30 days or less. Our short-term rehab can be completed through several levels of care depending on your personal, clinical, and financial needs. Short-term rehab can provide a solid foundation for long-term sobriety through counseling, behavioral therapies, medication, and support groups. Pacific Palisades treatments will be able to partake in an intensive 30-day program that allows them to get back to their lives quickly, without the need for drugs or alcohol. However, it is important to continue working on recovery for several months through outpatient treatment and aftercare programs to reduce the risk of relapse.

Long Term Rehab (60-90 Days)

Long-term rehab may be the best course of treatment for those who have long-term addiction, have been in treatment before and relapsed, or have a co-occurring disorder such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder. Resurgence Behavioral Health also offers long-term rehab or programs that last 60- or 90 days for such cases. Patients who complete 30-day programs and do not feel ready can continue to stay longer. Programs can be made up of several levels of care. The most successful cases complete a step-down system beginning with drug detox and inpatient rehab and continuing through outpatient care.

Does My Insurance Have Coverage For Rehab?

Most health insurance plans cover drug and alcohol rehab. How much is covered depends on your insurance plan; there are still deductibles and other expenses. Resurgence Behavioral Health accepts most PPO insurance plans, and our intake specialists will gladly verify your insurance. Our clinicians can also build treatment plans around out-of-pocket costs to fit your budget.

Additional Therapies & Addiction Treatments Available:

Our individualized treatment plans at Resurgence are possible in part to the variety of addiction therapies and services we offer. Patients can achieve long-term sobriety through our unique programs, which heal all aspects of their lives affected by addiction, including the root causes, broken relationships, relearning how to live independently, and finding housing and employment after rehab. We also offer unique programs such as trauma-informed care, couples rehab, and pet-friendly rehab to meet the needs of each patient.

Couples Rehab

Couples rehab at Resurgence Behavioral Health allows you and your partner to heal from addiction together. When only one person in a relationship where both partners struggle with addiction gets treatment, the risk of relapse is much higher. Our couples rehab program creates individual treatment plans for each person while incorporating couples and group therapy. Couples can heal from their unique root cause of addiction while providing mutual support and motivation to one another. They can also heal issues in their relationship affected by addiction, such as trust and communication issues.

Pet-Friendly Rehab

At Resurgence, we understand your pets are like family, and leaving them behind for an extended stay in rehab may often be a barrier to treatment. Our pet-friendly recovery allows you to bring your animal companion along with you. Not only does this remove the stress and anxiety from finding long-term care for your pet, but pet-friendly rehab can also benefit your recovery. Pets provide unconditional love, stress relief, and relief from loneliness while healing. Residents who bring their pets are responsible for feeding, walking, and cleaning up after them.

Part of our programs at Resurgence involve Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT). Our board-certified doctors and nurses are available around the clock to monitor patient vitals and administer medications when necessary. MAT is a significant component of our drug and alcohol detox program to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Medications are also required to ensure patient safety and avoid dangerous withdrawal symptoms such as seizures and hallucinations.

MAT is also used throughout the recovery process to treat Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS), co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder often seen alongside addiction and relapse prevention. Medically assisted treatment is only one part of a comprehensive treatment program and is best used with counseling and behavioral therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

While all addiction treatment programs vary, nearly all recovery programs encourage using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). It is a form of mental health therapy shown to be highly effective in treating various psychological conditions including substance use disorders. The core principle of CBT is to recognize and break negative behavioral and thought patterns related to substance abuse.

CBT is also effective in treating co-occurring disorders and is used in our dual diagnosis program at Resurgence. Patients will sit in one-on-one sessions with their primary therapist to discuss various aspects of their lives related to substance abuse. The therapist will help recognize problematic behaviors and thought patterns while offering ways to replace them with healthier and more positive ones. Patients can learn how to deal with stressful circumstances and situations so they do not feel the need to self-medicate with drugs or alcohol.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy widely used in addiction treatment. At Resurgence, this is just one of the many forms of counseling and behavioral treatment incorporated into our programs to help patients make lasting changes. DBT focuses on helping patients with self-validation, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Through one-on-one therapy, therapists will guide patients through a series of stages where they will learn to identify dysfunctional behaviors, manage these behaviors and emotions, improve self-confidence, and set new life goals. DBT is also a great way to address co-occurring disorders and help individuals make positive changes to achieve long-term recovery.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

REBT is one of the most popular and well-researched treatments for addiction. It is based on the idea that our beliefs and thoughts play a significant role in our behaviors, including substance abuse. At Resurgence, our therapists will REBT to help patients identify and change these irrational thoughts and beliefs about their substance abuse, which may often be the root cause. Patients who go through REBT can have a more rational outlook on life while developing healthy coping skills and ways of dealing with emotions, which is essential for preventing relapse. Our clinicians will use various forms of behavioral therapy to help you.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorders are often seen alongside substance use disorders, which is referred to as dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder. Individuals struggling with mental health disorders may turn to drugs or alcohol to cope with their symptoms, which only worsens them. Substance abuse can also bring out mental health disorders. Whether mental health or substance abuse issues came first, successful recovery depends on treating both disorders simultaneously.

Pacific Palisades residents struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues can find relief through Resurgence’s dual diagnosis treatment program. While both issues present a more complex case, our clinicians are trained and equipped to successfully treat both to help you achieve long-term relief from all symptoms. Our dual diagnosis treatment program is available at all levels of care and will use many of the same therapies to get to the root of your issues. Individual and group therapy sessions can help patients manage their disorder so they no longer feel the need to self-medicate with drugs or alcohol.

Addiction to substances often begins as a way to cope with underlying pain connected to trauma and results in a compulsive need to use. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach to treat emotional distress caused by traumatic events, which may be the root cause of addiction. The core idea of EMDR is that trauma causes our brain to be stuck in processing mode, keeping people from properly moving on from the event. EMDR helps to unblock this processing through guided eye movement and talk therapy.

During one-on-one sessions with trained therapists at Resurgence, patients will focus on emotionally charged memories during bilateral eye movement or stimulation, such as sound or light flashes that move back and forth across their visual field. This allows the brain to change how it stores these memories so they no longer have the same physical or emotional triggering effects. EMDR can be used in dual diagnosis treatment to address several mental health issues such as grief, depression, panic disorders, anxiety, and phobias that have resulted from trauma.

Relapse Prevention

Addiction is a life-long, chronic disorder that requires management for long-term sobriety. Part of our programs at Resurgence is giving our patients the tools and skills necessary for relapse prevention. Patients will work with clinicians to develop cognitive and behavioral strategies to identify high-risk situations and how to cope with them. They will leave our program confident in handling challenging situations without using alcohol or drugs. Some methods in relapse prevention include:

  • Building awareness of high-risk situations
  • Helping patients develop and expand several coping skills to address specific high-risk situations
  • Planning for emergencies, i.e., situations where they find themselves struggling with their sobriety
  • Reinforcing patient confidence in their ability to abstain from substance use

Life Skills Training

Learning new, positive life skills is part of our comprehensive drug and alcohol rehab programs at Resurgence Behavioral Health. Life skills are anything that helps you live a better, fuller life, such as good sleeping habits, cooking healthy meals, managing your time, keeping a budget, and maintaining an exercise routine. Our life skills training program complements our recovery programs to help patients build practical skills to stay healthy, reduce stress, and find new interests that can reduce the risk of relapse.

Vocational Training

At Resurgence, part of our focus is helping patients rebuild their lives, often from square one. Drug and alcohol addiction can impair a person’s ability to obtain or hold a job. Vocational training will help patients find and keep a job after completing our program through various services. Group sessions may include teaching interviewing skills, resume-building skills, and self-management while providing resources for education and job hunting.

Group Therapy

Group therapy sessions at Resurgence are essential to addiction treatment, and patients can learn to manage emotions, communicate effectively, and cope with triggers. Group therapy also provides a sense of community, reducing loneliness during drug and alcohol rehab. Our group therapy sessions will be led by one or more counselors who will facilitate discussions while helping group members explore their thoughts and will be centered around a specific topic. This is an excellent way to talk to others who understand the struggles you’ve been through and can build lasting friendships and support.

Experiential Therapy

Talk therapy is not the only way to help someone recognize and cope with feelings surrounding addiction. Experiential therapy at Resurgences uses a hands-on approach to help a person access and deal with those feelings they may not have been able to through traditional therapy. Through hands-on, engaging activities, those struggling with substance use disorder can work through their issues more efficiently. Some activities can include art therapy, creating music, writing, role-playing, animal therapy, and adventure therapy.

One-On-One Therapy

A significant bulk of any addiction treatment program is one-on-one therapy, also known as individual therapy. One-on-one therapy involves meeting with your counselor in a private, safe setting where you will discuss various aspects of your life surrounding addiction. Trained therapists at Resurgence will use different types of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and dialectical behavioral therapy, to find what works best for you. Therapists will also provide coping skills, feedback, and other tools to help you deal with negative thoughts and feelings.

Family Therapy

Addiction has far-reaching effects, especially on your loved ones. Family therapy can help you mend broken relationships caused by substance abuse while helping your loved ones understand your struggle with addiction. With the help of one of our trained therapists, you and your loved ones can learn communication skills, how to set healthy boundaries, and address unhealthy family dynamics such as codependency. This is just one block in our programs to help you rebuild your life before addiction.

Trauma Informed Therapy

Resurgence Behavioral Health treatment programs are unique because we focus on trauma-informed therapy. Pacific Palisades residents struggling with addiction due to trauma or PTSD can access our specialized treatment programs to address these issues while providing a safe environment to heal. We are aware that drug and alcohol rehab may be triggering to some with traumatic histories, which is why we ensure we treat and interact with you in a way that avoids traumatization. Our clinicians will include you in treatment planning, be transparent about therapies, and never make you do anything you do not want to.

Physical Fitness

Exercise and physical fitness can improve recovery outcomes and help you heal physically, emotionally, and psychologically from the effects of substance abuse. Our physical fitness programs will help you explore various forms of exercise to find what resonates best with you. This is an excellent way to help relieve stress, create a routine, improve mental health, and reduce cravings naturally.

Off Site Activities

Our programs at Resurgence incorporate off-site activities to help you unwind and reduce feelings of isolation. This is also a great way to help you apply everything you learn to the real world and develop interpersonal skills.
