Couples Therapy for Addiction Recovery
Whether you or your partner has a substance use disorder, couples therapy for addiction recovery can help.
This type of therapy provides a safe and comfortable space where you can start meaningful conversations.
Addiction does not just impact the individual.
Substance abuse also impacts your family, friends, co-workers, and spouse.
Couples therapy for addiction is an excellent way to address these impacts.
Using this specialized type of psychotherapy, thousands of couples have been able to recognize and resolve conflicts in their relationships.
Benefits of Couples Therapy for Addiction Recovery
Couples therapy for addiction recovery can help you rebuild trust and improve your communication skills.
These are two important factors in any healthy relationship.
When damage is done in a relationship, whether substances are involved or not, trust and open communication are vital.
In a situation as delicate as this one, it can be easy to damage important relationships.
That does not always mean that they are damaged beyond repair.
Other Common Therapies in Addiction Recovery
Couples therapy for addiction can be crucial to making amends and building a solid support system. It can help you improve your communication skills and gain a better understanding of how your addiction impacts the people you love.
Improving your interactions with your spouse can also help eliminate a source of stress or anxiety that may have been contributing to your substance abuse. Engaging your spouse’s support is conducive to long-term stability and sobriety. This is particularly true if both sides of the relationship are battling substance abuse.
However, it may take some work to get there. There may be many other therapies you encounter along the road to recovery. Some of these therapies focus on your interactions with loved ones and other individuals. A few of the most common examples of these would be family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy with others in your program.
There will likely also be individual sessions where you can gain a better understanding of damaging thought patterns and behaviors so that you can replace them with healthier ones. This is done primarily through a technique called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Outside of traditional therapies, there are other creative therapies we may use.
Holistic and Recreational Remedies
Our proven, traditional therapies are met with holistic and recreational remedies to create a unique, effective, and well-rounded program. Couples therapy is an important component, but it is only one piece of the puzzle. Soothing activities like art and music therapy can help boost your mood, self-esteem, and confidence, as well as giving you a creative outlet through which to express yourself. Recreational activities like beach trips, yoga classes, fitness classes, and meditation sessions help balance your body and mind.
Improving both your mental and physical health is important when the goal is long-term recovery. Nutritional guidance, life skills training, and relapse prevention training will help you hold on to this balance after you complete your programs here. Relapses are often triggered by specific individuals, locations, events, or moods. Learning how to identify and disrupt your drug triggers can help you achieve long-term sobriety. Each of these holistic and recreational remedies has an important part to play in the recovery process.
The Benefits of a Well-Rounded Addiction Program
An effective approach is a well-rounded one. This is just one of the many benefits of attending a Resurgence Behavioral Health addiction care program. Every step of your recovery journey with us will be customized based on your unique addiction and needs. From our first phone call through aftercare planning, we will work with you to monitor your progress and ensure we are meeting your needs. There are no one-size-fits-all treatment options here. You deserve a unique, personalized, and dedicated addiction program. We will ensure that this is what you get.
Choosing the Right Treatment Setting
When you first learn of all the addiction treatment options that are out there, choosing one can seem daunting. But you do not have to worry about choosing one on your own. We will help you choose the right program based on your unique addiction, mental health, and other needs. We will evaluate these needs and your concerns to ensure that what we are giving you matches up. We offer a variety of treatment options, including:
- Inpatient care programs
- Outpatient care programs
- Intensive outpatient care programs
- Partial hospitalization programs
- Aftercare planning and services
- Dual diagnosis programs
- 12-step programs
Trauma-informed care, gender-specific treatments, alumni programs, and other specialized care options are also available.
Inpatient vs. Outpatient Care
The two primary addiction treatment settings are inpatient and outpatient. Inpatient care offers the highest levels of support since it is the only program that is full-time. During this type of program, you would temporarily live at our safe, comfortable, and residential facility. Here, you would have 24-hour access to everything you need so that you can focus all of your attention and energy on recovery. However, a full-time program is not an option for everyone. Some of our clients have milder addictions, have completed more intensive programs already, or have work and family obligations at home.
If this describes your situation, you may be better suited for an outpatient program. This could mean traditional outpatient, intensive outpatient, or partial hospitalization. Traditionally, a client with a moderate or severe addiction would complete a residential or inpatient program before moving on to a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program after that.
These care methods are uniquely designed to fit together at the different stages of the recovery process. But we will help you determine where to start. Our various therapies, including couples therapy, will be a feature of any care program you enter.
Paying for Addiction Treatments
Costs for addiction care are one of the most common barriers that addicts cite as a reason not to get the treatment they need. But paying for your addiction treatments may be easier than you think. If you have health insurance, your addiction care program may be fully or partially covered. Please call our admissions team to receive a free insurance verification and find out. If you only have partial coverage, we will help you put together a plan to cover the rest. If you do not have health insurance, please ask about alternative payment options. Do not let costs deter you from changing your life.
