Ryan served as a Law Enforcement Officer on multiple Task Forces at the local, county, state and federal levels in the greater Minneapolis, Minnesota area for 11 years and as a Detective on the Minnesota Crisis Intervention Team (C.I.T.), which is a collaborative approach to safely and effectively address the needs of persons with mental illnesses and substance abuse disorders. In this role, Ryan was an integral part of the process of dealing with people in crisis and successfully de-escalating them in order to assure they receive the best possible care and link them to appropriate services with the goal of diverting them from the criminal justice system if appropriate. Ryan is an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED & Basic Life Support Instructor, a Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician, a SMART Recovery Facilitator Instructor as well as a Counter Act Instructor which is a comprehensive, integrated substance abuse prevention program designed by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and law enforcement agencies. Ryan is a recipient of three Unit Citations for going above and beyond the call of duty in his role as a Crisis Interventionist and is a recipient of the LifeSaver Award.

Ryan possesses an innate sense of social responsibility and his passion in sharing all of his training and experience with Resurgence staff and clients in his role as a Resurgence University Learning and Development Team Trainer.
