Best Alcohol Detox Treatment Center for Tennessee Residents

Alcohol addiction is common, and it is a disease that should not be taken lightly. When your pattern of alcohol use becomes a problem, and you feel a physical or psychological urge to drink alcohol, you may be an alcoholic. Although quitting seems as simple as “just stop drinking”, you should not attempt to quit alcohol “cold turkey”, as withdrawal symptoms can quickly get out of hand and become dangerous or even life-threatening if not overseen by medical professionals.

At Resurgence, we have a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program that can see you through this difficult time, while keeping you safe and mitigating the worst of the withdrawal symptoms. With MAT you will remain as comfortable as possible, and your risk of relapsing will be greatly reduced. Resurgence is one of the nation’s best alcohol rehab. During your detox you will be supervised by a certified medical team, providing clinical care and support to you 24 hours a day. Our staff members are there for you and want to help you through your detox as best they can. Many of them are in recovery themselves and they remember what it was like to be in your position.

While going through detox, we will not only provide prescribed medications to get you through the worst of your symptoms, but we will also make sure you remain hydrated and eat nutritional food, and that you get a good amount of rest. You will stay healthy and safe in our care.

Nation's Most Trusted Alcohol Detox Treatment Services

At Resurgence, we understand that entering a substance abuse treatment for Tennessee Residents can be intimidating, and may involve feelings of fear, shame, or doubt. You will never have to worry about being coerced into doing anything you don’t want to do. We will ensure you understand everything you are agreeing to, and we will get fully informed consent for every treatment and medication given.

The first step when you enter our detox program is a full physical exam. You will also be screened for mental illnesses and other co-occurring disorders. We will assess your level of dependence and measure the extent of your addiction to ensure your detox goes as smoothly as possible.
There will also be an in-depth interview, where we get to know about your medical history and your history of addiction, as well as getting to know you as a person. We will find out what your specific needs are, and we will work with you to create a program that will meet your needs and help you meet your goals, accomplishing the things you want to get out of detox and rehab. The plan is to build you up so you are in a place where you feel strong and capable of living on your own without drinking.

We will let you know exactly what to expect as you begin your detox, and we will keep you safe and as comfortable as possible, using our Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. Once you are through your detox period, we will work with you to help you choose your next course of action. A 30- to 90-day inpatient rehab program is highly recommended directly after detoxing, and we can easily help you make the transition into our rehab center, where you can receive further care, group, and individual therapy, and also work on yourself in life skills and vocational skills courses, using our exercise facilities, and receiving nutritional counseling from experts.

Some people cannot stay for the recommended 30-day minimum in residential care and need to immediately return home after detoxing. In cases such as these, we can work with you to find an outpatient program to keep you on track and connected to a sober community. Whichever course of action you choose to take, we will be there to ensure you have all the support and care you need.

Why Choose Resurgence for Alcohol Detox?

At Resurgence, we care about you as an individual. You are not just another addiction on a checklist that we have to solve, you are a dynamic and complex person, with a history, a personality, and unique needs and goals that need to be met. We use trauma-informed practices, taking your full life story into account during your treatment. We want you to be an active participant in your treatment to ensure you do not feel powerless or vulnerable, and we will get informed consent, explaining everything thoroughly before moving forward with anything. Open communication is key to creating a trusting relationship and will improve your overall treatment outcome.

At Resurgence, we also offer dual diagnosis treatment, which is an important component to recovery for many people. During our initial evaluation, and throughout your treatment we will monitor you for signs of any co-occurring conditions and will integrate mental health treatment into your detox and rehab program. It will be treated at the same time as your addiction so you can become the strongest version of yourself and thrive without feeling the need to turn back to alcohol.

What To Expect During Detox?

When you stop drinking, you should never detox without professional supervision, especially if you have been binge drinking, drinking over a long period of time, or if you have other co-occurring health issues. Alcohol withdrawal tends to start out mild, with symptoms like:

  • Insomnia
  • Brain fog
  • Anxiety, irritability, or mood swings
  • Sweating
  • Headache or body aches
  • Increased heart rate

This can rapidly decline into delirium tremens, a dangerous set of withdrawal symptoms that may include confusion, agitation, high fever, seizures, and hallucinations, and can become life-threatening without treatment.

At Resurgence, we provide a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) for alcohol detoxification that will keep you safe and as comfortable as possible as you go through this phase of your recovery. During MAT, we will give you medications to ease your alcohol cravings, help you rest, and keep you safe. We will ensure you stay hydrated, eat healthy food, and we will monitor you 24/7 to make sure everything goes smoothly. We will also introduce counseling into the program early so that you can have support if any emotional or traumatic issues come up as the alcohol leaves your system. This “whole patient” approach will help us get to the root of your addiction and has been proven to improve the chances of long-term, sustained recovery.

How Long Does Detox Last?

Everybody has their own individual history, health issues, needs, and goals, so detox tends to be different for each person. The timeline generally follows this pattern:

  • In the first 6 to 12 hours, you may feel anxiety, stomach issues like diarrhea or nausea, headaches, and experience insomnia.
  • From 12 to 48 hours after your last drink, someone experiencing serious withdrawal may begin hallucinating or having seizures. In general, symptoms and discomfort tend to escalate.
  • From 48 to 72 hours you may experience fever, confusion, rapid heart rate, and delirium tremens. This is the most dangerous period and often requires medical intervention to remain safe. Medical detox is the safest method of dealing with withdrawal and shock symptoms that come with alcohol withdrawal. We will keep you safe, with full, 24-hour support from our caring staff.
  • After the peak of your withdrawal symptoms, you will gradually begin to feel better, and once you are stabilized, we can move on to the next step in your recovery, a rehabilitation program.

What Happens After Alcohol Detox?

Once you have completed our alcohol detox program, the best course of action is to immediately transfer into our inpatient rehab center. This is located in the same facility, and you will remain connected to the same care providers, doctors, and counselors you have already been seeing, so you won’t have to go over your history and tell the same information to a whole new team of professionals.

The minimum recommended stay in residential rehab is 30 days, giving you a full month in our care, away from your everyday stresses and triggers at home, as well as providing you a way to look at your life from a new perspective. At Resurgence, we use a holistic, well-rounded total-patient approach to rehabilitation. We integrate a combination of therapies, counseling, education, nutrition and exercise, groups, and recreation, all to help you with self-discovery, creating lasting behavioral changes, and providing new, healthy coping strategies to prevent relapse in the future. Your program will be 100% customized to your preferences and needs, so you will remain interested and engaged in your own healing.
