Top Rated Drug Detox Program for Residents of Franklin

Physical and psychological dependence on drugs can happen to anybody at any time. Drug addiction is a complex disease that affects the brain, affecting self-control, judgment, resistance, decision making, stress, memory, and impulsivity.

There are many reasons people begin using drugs, like exposure to trauma, social situations, the environment they grew up in, or biological reasons. Being exposed to these factors at certain developmental stages in life increases the risk. People with comorbid conditions like depression, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, or personality disorders may have begun self-medicating to cope with mental health symptoms, or using drugs may have disrupted part of the brain, increasing the likelihood of developing mental disorders like anxiety or schizophrenia.

Physical dependence happens after prolonged use of a drug. The brain forgets how to create dopamine on its own, and due to other chemical and physical changes, your body becomes accustomed to having the drug in your system just to work normally. When you stop taking the drug “cold turkey”, you will experience mild to severe withdrawal symptoms that can be uncomfortable and even dangerous. At Resurgence, we offer a medically assisted detox program to begin your rehab journey, in which our medical staff can provide prescription medications to make detox easier and safer.

Creating a customized, long-term treatment plan is the best way to help a patient live a drug-free, productive life. Resurgence is the best drug detox program for residents of Franklin, because we focus on getting to the root of addiction, as well as co-occurring conditions, and teach healthy coping strategies, so that you will be less likely to relapse in the future. At Resurgence, we combine mental health, substance abuse, and primary care services into one integrated care plan. We offer a comprehensive continuum of care, moving you through detox to rehab to an outpatient program with connections to our alumni community, all at your own pace, within the same facility. We don’t want you to have to worry about anything other than your own health and recovery, so we take care to ensure you are safe, healthy, and that every day you are spending in our facility is worthwhile. Our staff is highly trained, welcoming, and empathetic. We have nurses on staff, and the head nurse is a certified addiction RN.

Our detox program is intensive and employs techniques like the recommended option of a medically assisted detox, where prescription drugs are given to help you get through withdrawal as safely and comfortably as possible. We also bring counseling in early in your detox, so that we can begin to help you through any unwanted thoughts or emotions you may have as you begin your treatment. Behavioral therapy is a large part of our rehab program, as the goal is to get to the root of your addiction, not just to treat the withdrawal symptoms and send you on your way.

At Resurgence, we create an individualized treatment plan for each patient, based on your unique goals, budget, and needs. We offer multiple payment options, and all care is given by highly trained and experienced staff members. Many of our staff members are in recovery themselves, so they know what it is like to be in your shoes.

Located in a serene environment, our facility is top-tier, with an in-house chef who can easily accommodate any dietary needs, exercise equipment, comfortable home-like rooms, a welcoming community atmosphere, and excellent 24/7 care.

What is Detox Like?

When you first decide to come into a detox program at Resurgence, we will show you around the facility and answer any questions you may have. Once you are ready, we can begin the process of checking you in. During intake, we will do a physical exam and mental health screening to make sure we will be addressing co-occurring issues with dual diagnosis treatment.

After intake, we then begin the detox process. Your withdrawal symptoms may vary during detox, depending on what drugs you are detoxing from, how long you have been using, your physical and mental state, age, genetic makeup, and other factors.

Detox is different for everybody, as each drug affects each person’s body differently, but some of the withdrawal symptoms you can expect include:

  • Body aches or headaches
  • Nausea/diarrhea/vomiting
  • Irritability/agitation/anxiety
  • Tiredness/depression/low energy
  • Excessive sweating
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Insomnia
  • Intense drug cravings

The preferred option for detox is medical detox, where you will stay under the medical care of nurses within a Resurgence facility, monitored 24 hours a day for safety. Prescription doses of FDA-approved medications may be administered to help alleviate symptoms. These medications will not get you high, nor will they cause a new addiction. They will stop drug cravings, help you sleep, or help with mental health conditions. This is the preferred option for those addicted to a substance that can lead to severe withdrawal symptoms, like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids. There is also the option of a social detox, where we do not give any medication, but you still stay in our care facility and we monitor your progress and ensure you stay safe and healthy.
The timeline for detox depends on many factors, but in general terms you will begin to feel symptoms within two to six hours of your last use, and you should be ready to move into a residential rehab program within five to ten days. The worst of the withdrawal usually happens at around 72 hours, after which you begin to feel better every day. We will get you through this period together, so when you enter rehab you will have a new outlook, and be able to clearly focus on the road ahead.

How Long Does Detox Take?

The timeline of your specific detox depends on many factors, like which drug you are detoxing from, how you were using it, for how long and the severity of the addiction, and how much you were using at one time. It also depends on your history of drug use, if you have relapsed before, the condition of your mental and physical health, your genetics, and your mental state when you enter detox.
