Top Rated Outpatient Alcohol Rehab Center in Houston

Resurgence has the best outpatient alcohol rehab in Houston. With our flexible program that can change as your needs evolve over time, our completely customized treatment plans, our well-trained and educated team, we can help you remain sober for the long term.

We highly recommend outpatient care to anybody leaving a residential rehab program. This will help you to remain connected to a sober community, with continued care as you return to all the temptations, triggers, people, and situations that may still be there when you get home. Our additional support through the first few weeks or months may make the difference for whether you go through a relapse or not.

Resurgence is the top-rated outpatient alcohol rehab center in Houston, Texas. We have different options for outpatient rehab, and after evaluating your life situation, your individual history with alcohol, your physical and mental health, and your goals, we will come up with an individualized rehab program that will best suit your needs. A good candidate for outpatient rehab is somebody who:

  • Has recently been through a residential rehabilitation program
  • Does not feel the constant urge to use drugs, does not have withdrawal symptoms, and is not otherwise showing signs of relapse
  • Is willing to responsibly show up for therapy, medical and other appointments on your own, including figuring out transportation and keeping track of your own schedule
  • Feels ready and motivated to move on from an inpatient program
  • Has a good grasp on medical and psychological issues and does not require constant monitoring or medical care, including taking medications on time
  • Is living somewhere sober-friendly with support from family or friends or is living in a sober living home

Alcohol Rehab That Allows You to Still Go To Work & School

You can go to work or school while in outpatient rehab. At Resurgence, we offer a flexible Intensive Outpatient Program that we can customize to work around your schedule.

Although the best treatment results usually come after a 30- to 90-day stay in our inpatient rehab program, we know that not everybody is able to remain in inpatient care after detoxing because of the responsibilities in their lives. Our Intensive Outpatient Program is a good option for somebody who cannot leave important commitments like going to work and school, or taking care of the family for a long period of time. You will go to groups and therapy in the evenings or on weekends, or during the day if you need to work around your kids’ school schedule. No matter your situation, we will find a plan that best suits your life.

Benefits of Outpatient Alcohol Rehab

Some of the benefits of our outpatient alcohol rehab program include:

Its Flexibility

As your treatment continues, you can alter your program to suit your ever-changing needs. You may choose less frequent visits or a less-intensive program as you overcome your addiction and find new routines and ways to spend your time. We can arrange therapy and medical appointments around your schedule, and there are groups and other programming available in the evenings and weekends for those who cannot come during the day. We will work alongside each of our patients to figure out a program that will work for their individual needs.

Continued Connection To a Sober Community

You will not be leaving rehab without a safety net. With our caring staff, your continued group, therapy, medical care, and other sessions available to you, and our alumni community, there is always somebody to reach out to.

Referrals To Sober Living Homes

If you feel you need a structured place to land when you leave residential rehab, or if you want to get sober but your home is not a supportive place for this to happen, we can refer you to a sober living home. You may have heard them referred to as “halfway houses”. These are communal homes with multiple residents and staff that can act as an in-between zone, that reinforces the sober living lessons learned in rehab. When you live in a sober home you can come and go as you please, but there are rules about enforced sobriety with mandatory drug tests, curfews, and rules about visitors. Each sober home is different, so whether you require more intensive psychiatric care or want to live somewhere without too many rules, we can help you find the right fit.

What to Expect During Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab is a continuation of the therapy, groups, and other support that residential rehab offers, but less intensive. You will live at home (or in a sober home) and be slowly reintroduced to your life, while you use your new sober skills and coping mechanisms you learned while in rehab. You will continue to receive strong support through group sessions, continued connection with your medical care provider, and scheduled therapy appointments. This is all dependent on your willingness and drives to continue to attend your appointments and stay on track. Personal responsibility is a key factor to a successful outpatient outcome.

For those who did not participate in inpatient rehab, you will be assessed with a physical exam and screened for mental illness to find out if you will require extra psychiatric care along with your therapy and groups. You will be interviewed so we can find out your goals and needs. We will then ensure you get the best care in our detox program, which generally takes about a week to ten days, and then we will create a personalized outpatient program to help you remain sober for the long term.

How Long Does Outpatient Rehab Last with Resurgence?

Just as the outpatient programs themselves are flexible, so are our timelines. We want to ensure each of our clients has all the support and resources they need, and as your needs vary, we can change along with you. You may begin in our intensive Partial Hospitalization Program, but realize you don’t really need that much support and move straight into our Intensive Outpatient Program, and the frequency of visits can slowly taper down as you grow more confident and able to use healthy coping skills on your own.

IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a flexible program that is customized to each patient’s needs. You will live at home (or in a sober home), return to your regular life, and schedule treatments, and attend groups outside of your work or school hours. We will ensure you are still receiving as much care and support as you need, and you can transition back into your normal life as quickly or as slowly as you are comfortable with.

PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program)

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a day program, meaning you will live and sleep outside of our facility, but come in during the day, up to six hours a day, seven days a week if you want, for a full day of programming. This program is an excellent intermediary step between inpatient care and the IOP because you can dip your toes back into your everyday life, but still have full days of support and sobriety reinforcement.

Which Outpatient Treatment, IOP or PHP is Right For Me?

Many patients will begin with the PHP and then move into the IOP when they feel comfortable, but it depends on what you are looking for in outpatient care. If you want to get back to work or school as soon as possible, the IOP is right for you, but if you are unsure or feel overwhelmed, you may want to begin with PHP. We will help you decide what is right for you, depending on your comfort level.
