What Is the Difference Between Trauma-informed Care and Trauma-Specific Treatment?
Trauma-specific treatment and trauma-informed care both provide care for people suffering from traumatic stress. However, these two treatments address different symptoms and issues.
Trauma-Specific Interventions are designed specifically to address healing from traumatic events, while Trauma-Informed Care is an approach that is applied to any treatment involving trauma survivors. In the latter, our therapists consider the pervasive nature of trauma and promote an environment of healing and recovery, rather than practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize the client.
