Contra Costa Alcohol Rehab Facilities

Alcohol is everywhere, from your parents’ liquor cabinet to nearly every restaurant. It is relatively inexpensive, and it is legal to purchase. Alcohol is also socially acceptable in our society, so addiction usually happens gradually. Nobody has their first beer thinking they want to become an alcoholic. If any of the following symptoms sound like you, reach out to our Contra Costa alcohol rehab.

You may be addicted to alcohol if you:

  • Drink alone
  • Drink in the morning
  • Feel guilty about your drinking habits
  • Hide alcohol around the house or work
  • Keep alcohol on your person
  • Feel like your mood swings are out of control
  • Crave alcohol
  • Have withdrawal symptoms when you try to stop or cut back
  • Prioritize drinking over responsibilities or things you used to enjoy
  • Drink even when it causes family, money, or health problems

Addiction Treatment that
Just Works

Individualized treatment programs delivered in a comfortable, relaxed setting promote healing in your recovery journey.

Help for alcohol addiction usually involves a medical detox program and then rehab. When you are ready to ask for help, the professional staff at Resurgence are here. Contact Resurgence For alcohol rehab in Contra Costa, CA to find out more about what we can do to help you stop drinking for good.

At Resurgence, we recognize that everybody has different goals, histories, preferences, needs, budgets, and timelines when it comes to rehabilitation, and that is why we customize each of our patients’ treatments.

With alcohol, a medically assisted detox program is strongly recommended for your safety and comfort as the alcohol leaves your system. Some people may be surprised to find out that stopping drinking “cold turkey” can be quite dangerous, especially if the person has been drinking heavily, or drinking for a long time. The severity of withdrawal symptoms depends on factors like:

  • Frequency of drinking
  • Amount consumed each time
  • How long you have been drinking
  • Your physical and mental health at the time of detox
  • Other variables like genetics and metabolism

Without professional oversight, while detoxing from alcohol you may experience symptoms like:

  • Anxiety and mood swings
  • Tremors
  • Uncontrollable sweating
  • Confusion or brain fog
  • Irritability
  • Nightmares
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Headache
  • Increased heart rate

These symptoms can rapidly escalate, becoming a dangerous set of symptoms called delirium tremens, also referred to as “the DTs”.  The DTs may include:

  • Confusion
  • Agitation
  • High fever
  • Audio, visual and tactile hallucinations
  • Sensitivity to light and sound

If untreated by a medical professional, they can lead to dangerous heart activity and seizures that may cause brain injury or death. It is very important to have medical help when detoxing from alcohol.

At Resurgence, we have a medically assisted treatment (MAT) for detox that can get you through this uncomfortable phase without suffering or being in danger. You will move into our detox center until you are stabilized. During MAT:

  • We can provide medications that will help with alcohol cravings, pain, restlessness, and anxiety to keep you comfortable, and will have 24-hour monitoring, with staff available at any time if you need anything.
  • We also bring in therapy and counseling to ensure it is not traumatic and to help you deal with any unwanted emotions or thoughts that may come up.
  • Dual diagnosis treatments also begin during detox if it has been determined that you may need help with a co-occurring mental health issue. This will include specialized therapy and psychiatric medication.

After MAT we recommend moving directly into rehab. Our inpatient programs are generally 30-90 days long, and the longer you remain in inpatient care, the less likely it is that you will relapse.

Not every patient can leave home for a full 30–90-day inpatient rehab program, because of work, family, school, or other responsibilities, so our outpatient programs are flexible and customized to fit your lifestyle, changing alongside your evolving needs as a patient.

All our detox and rehabilitation plans integrate mental health, substance abuse, and primary care services, focusing on the root of the addiction. We know you are a unique individual with unique needs, goals, and preferences, and will work within your budget. We have multiple payment options, and all care is administered by trained, experienced professionals.

Who Can Benefit From Alcohol Rehab

Anybody who believes they may have an addiction to alcohol, whether mild or severe, can benefit from a Contra Costa alcohol rehab program. Quitting drinking involves difficult physical and mental processes that are best managed under the supervision of professionals, in an integrated program that combines medical detox with therapy, counseling, physical wellness, and education.

At Resurgence, our staff is non-judgmental and will always be there to make sure you are both physically and psychologically well throughout your treatment. We use a trauma-informed approach to care to ensure you feel safe, respected, and listened to by our team, which is important, as at Resurgence we believe that feeling comfortable with your surroundings will allow you to absorb your treatments better, for better results.

Family Support During Alcohol Rehab

Family members of people with addictions sometimes suffer as much as the addicted person they care about. They may lose trust in that person, be hurt by their actions, and worry about their safety.

As a family member of an addict, you should ensure you are getting support and help to manage your stress, so you are not taking on more than you can handle. Resurgence offers family therapy options that will help you and your loved ones work on issues like clear communication, intense emotions, understanding one another, and repairing your relationship. You can deepen your connections and learn how to best offer support during recovery.

Therapy at Resurgence is not only for people with addictions. It can benefit everybody involved, improving the wellbeing and health of the entire family.

What to Expect at Alcohol Rehab

When you first enter a rehab program at Resurgence, you will be screened for mental illness, trauma, and other psychological issues, and you will have a full medical exam, as well as an in-depth interview. All of these will give us the full picture of your current health, your level of addiction, and allow us to get to know you and figure out the best treatments for your unique case.

We will work alongside you to build a custom plan, which, for alcohol addiction, begins with medical detox. You will move into our detox facility for anywhere from 5 days to a couple of weeks and once you are done, we will transition you directly into rehab.

Most of our patients will go into inpatient rehab for a minimum of 30 days to change their surroundings, get a new perspective on things, and live in a fully sober and structured environment at first. Time in inpatient care includes scheduled treatments, and plenty of time to enjoy our serene and community-oriented facility. There is fresh healthy food, a gym, recreation areas, and sports, and you can also rest your body and spend time reflecting on what you have learned.

After your time is over at inpatient rehab, we can place you in an appropriate level of outpatient care. This can range from partial hospitalization to a more casual and flexible outpatient program. We will take your comfort level, along with your physical and mental health needs into account when making this decision.

Care continues for as long as you need it. You can phase out of your outpatient program as time goes on, but still have full access to therapy, groups, doctors, and psychiatrists if needed. We are here for you every step of the way.

Alcohol Rehab Contra Costa

Alcohol rehab at Resurgence is a customized series of treatments and programs that will provide you with the recovery tools you need to live an independent, self-directed life without depending on alcohol. Through therapy and other treatments, you will get to the root of your addiction, and work on healing your mind, body, and soul.

Types of Alcohol Rehab Programs

Inpatient alcohol rehab is a full-time stay inside our facility, where you will have structured days of individual and group therapies and other programming, as well as 24-hour medical care if needed, inside a safe, stable, and consistent alcohol- and drug-free environment. People with dual diagnosis treatments, people with a high risk of relapsing, and people resistant to treatment may want to remain in inpatient care for longer than the minimum recommended 30 days.

Outpatient alcohol rehab is a spectrum of care, ranging from partial hospitalization to casual outpatient care. The main phases include:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – a highly structured program where you live inside a care facility up to 6 days/week, receiving full days of programming as you begin to move back out into the world incrementally.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – a flexible program that has you living outside the facility but commuting in for a minimum of 3 days/evenings/nights per week for counseling, group, and one-on-one therapy, and healthcare appointments. This is a good program for people who want to return to some regular activities like work or school but require continued strong support.

Outpatient/Aftercare Program – This is a continuation of the IOP with less intensive programming. You can book time for therapy and attend groups while remaining connected with doctors and psychiatric care. Your level of care can fluctuate over time, so there is always the option to move back into IOP or increase the frequency of therapy if you wish. We are here for you for as long as you need us.
