Alcohol Rehab Tennessee

Alcohol Rehab Tennessee Resurgence Behavioral Health

When is it Time for Alcohol Rehab?

Alcohol use is common among many American cultures and traditions. It is often associated with holidays, a way to decompress after work, or socially connect with friends and families. With the high level of normalcy within modern-day culture, many residents of Tennessee find themselves struggling with the risk of developing alcohol addiction. For some, you may be questioning if your alcohol use has progressed to a point that requires the support of alcohol rehab and wonders if it is time to enter into an alcohol rehab program

Alcohol addiction progresses differently in each individual person that it affects. It is often thought that in order to enter into alcohol rehab, you must hit your rock bottom first in order to be able to make a change. While this may be the case for some individuals, it does not have to be your story. Some may find that they are ready to make the change to remove alcohol from their life before they begin to lose what is important to them. Regardless of what has brought you to the place of knowing you are ready to ask for help, Resurgence Behavioral Health provides each patient with an alcohol rehab program that is customized to meet their individual needs. Each patient has their own unique experience with addiction and to properly heal from your addiction, you will need therapeutic support that uses different modalities of evidence-based therapy that will assist you in healing from underlying causes of your addiction while learning new methods of relapse prevention and effective emotional regulation.

Signs of Alcohol Addiction

Whether you are concerned about your alcohol use or a loved one’s use of alcohol, it is often hard to know when it is the proper time to intervene and look for support within an alcohol rehab. • Having to consume larger amounts of alcohol in order to reach the same desired effect
  • Inability to follow through on work and school commitments
  • Attempting to cut down on your drinking behaviors but find yourself unable to
  • Your thoughts are centered around when your next drink will be or planning when you will drink next
  • Losing interest in activities and hobbies that once brought you joy
  • Experiencing strong alcohol cravings or urges
  • Engaging in high risk behavior when drinking alcohol
  • Having physical health complications from drinking alcohol and continuing to drink
  • Changing social circles to one that is around others that drink
  • Lying or hiding your alcohol use from others

What to Expect in Alcohol Rehab

Making the decision to enter into alcohol rehab is a courageous decision that can come with questions or reservations about what you can expect when you enter into an alcohol rehab program. Resurgence values transparency with our patients so that you can ease any anxieties by knowing what the process will be like. When you first arrive, you will meet with one of our counselors who will complete an intake interview and assessment. This is an opportunity for our team of men and women to gain an understanding of your relationship with alcohol and how your addiction has progressed over time. This process is designed not to provide shame for your addiction, but instead, give you the safest rehab and detox program possible. By gaining an understanding of your family history with addiction, your length of time engaging in alcohol use, and the rate and quantity at which you drank alcohol, our team will determine if you will need support through an alcohol detox program while also learning your triggers for drinking. Gaining perspective on your potential triggers will provide our counselors with the necessary knowledge to support you in learning new coping mechanisms through emotional awareness and regulation while also utilizing holistic methods of treatment.

Alcohol Detox: The First Step

Before you are able to complete an alcohol rehab program, you first will need to ensure that you have rid your body of the toxins of alcohol. Depending on your length of time drinking alcohol, your body may have developed a physical dependency on alcohol in order to function normally. When you attempt to quit your use of alcohol after a physical and emotional dependency has been created, there are risks that you will experience withdrawal symptoms with the potential of exhibiting life-threatening side effects. In order to maintain your overall safety and wellbeing, it is strongly recommended that you complete your alcohol detox within a medically supervised detox. It is not always easy to predict how you will react to alcohol withdrawal, choosing to reside within a facility staffed with medical and therapeutic supports means that you will have experts around you that can provide you with effective treatment methods such as medication or holistic alternatives that will work to mitigate the severity of your symptoms and keep you feeling safe and comfortable.

Inpatient Residential Alcohol Rehab in Tennessee

Tennessee residents that are wanting support with removing their alcohol use from their life, but are concerned with doing so within their own home environment that has helped to fuel their addiction, will often choose an inpatient residential alcohol rehab program. Patients will be invited to stay within our treatment center for periods of 30, 60, or 90 days. During this time, you will have access to support from our team of caring men and women any time of the day as you transition into a life in recovery. Your journey is important to us and our staff work to provide you with a listening ear and guidance to help keep you motivated in your journey to sobriety.

Many believe that to get over your alcohol addiction, you simply need to quit drinking alcohol. However, this is only the first step in the journey to quit drinking. Through individual and group therapy sessions, you will be given support from counselors to learn more about the root causes of your addiction. No one ever begins drinking with the intention of developing an alcohol addiction, in fact, most alcohol addictions are a byproduct of unresolved emotions or traumas from your past. Through evidence-based therapy methods, you and your counselors will explore further into the emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that are linked to your addiction. From there, you will learn new, healthy habits and skills that will help you to identify problematic feelings or situations and learn methods of managing and working through these emotions to keep you on track to maintaining your sobriety.

Outpatient Alcohol Rehab in Tennessee

Resurgence recognizes that Tennessee residents have busy lives whether they have a family to tend to or have a demanding position at work. For some, it may not be feasible to go to alcohol rehab for an extended period of time and put the rest of your life on hold. Outpatient alcohol rehab gives Tennessee residents an opportunity to heal from their addiction within their home environment where you can still be there for your family and maintain your work duties. Outpatient offers patients the opportunity to come into the treatment center throughout the week where you can engage in the one-on-one and group therapy sessions while still being able to return home in the evening. Your outpatient alcohol rehab program will be individualized to meet your needs and you can choose from the various outpatient options available such as day programs where you can spend your days within our center engaging in therapeutic processes or intensive outpatient programs where you can come in at certain times of the day to engage in therapy sessions and then return to work and home commitments. Whatever option you choose, you can rest assured that our counselors will be there every step of the way to help make the transition into sobriety smooth.

Medications That Make Alcohol Rehab Easier

Many have heard about some of the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms that alcohol can produce. While these symptoms may sound daunting, it is important to note that there are medications available to assist in alleviating these symptoms and keeping you comfortable and safe. Patients who are experiencing more severe symptoms will be offered these medications should they wish to take them. These medications are not habit-forming and you will slowly taper yourself off of them as you begin to feel healthy and stable.

Medications that are often used to ease your alcohol rehab experience are:

  • Benzodiazepines – These are often used to mitigate severe symptoms such as seizures. Benzos are also known to ease feelings of anxiety and lessen chances of panic attacks.
  • Carbamazepine- This medication is often given to patients that are unable to take Benzodiazepines or require more intensive care throughout their alcohol detox.
  • Naltrexone- An injectable medication or available in pill form,  that assists patients in reducing cravings and blocking the effects of alcohol should it be consumed.
  • Acamprosate- Assists in improving mood, reducing insomnia, restlessness, and fatigue .
  • Disulfiram- Medication that will produce feelings of nausea, flushing, or palpitations if alcohol is consumed, therefore, working as a deterrent for individuals to consume alcohol.
