Am I an Alcoholic? Take Our Alcoholism Self Assessment Quiz

Resurgence Behavioral Health Am I an Alcoholic Alcoholism Self Assessment Quiz

Recognizing When Alcohol has Become a Problem

One reason people don’t seek treatment for alcohol addiction is society’s acceptance of alcohol as an integral part of our society. Unlike other substances commonly abused in the United States, people often drink alcohol for a long time before recognizing it’s become a problem. We’re accustomed to hearing someone say they need a drink at the end of a bad day. However, people who do struggle with alcohol abuse and how it can influence their negative behaviors can learn a great deal by taking an alcoholism quiz.

With people tending to hide at least a portion of their drinking if they think they have a problem and don’t want anyone to know, it can be challenging to determine an issue without answering the alcoholism quiz.

When people don’t want to be told what to do or be confronted about their drinking, an alcoholism quiz can help answer concerns. They may feel like they’re getting along fine and any effects alcohol is having on their life are minor and they’re willing to accept them because they like to drink.

If underlying psychological or emotional issues cause drinking, they do not want to or are not prepared to address those areas of their life, so they try to keep their self-medicating with alcohol to themselves. These behaviors are potential ways to recognize when alcohol has become a problem for you or a loved one, which can be identified in an alcoholism quiz.

If any of these types of feelings or behaviors apply to you, please call us today. At Resurgence, we have many rehab options when it comes to treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder and Alcoholism.

Do You Think You Might Have an Alcohol Use Disorder? Ask Yourself These Questions

  • Has anyone ever suggested you quit or cut back on your drinking?
  • Has drinking affected your reputation?
  • Have you made promises to control your drinking and then broken them?
  • Have you ever switched to different drinks or changed your drinking pattern to prevent or reduce your consumption?
  • Have you ever gotten into financial, legal, or marital difficulties due to drinking?
  • Have you ever lost time from work because of drinking?
  • Have you ever sneaked or hidden your drinking?
  • On occasion, do you feel uncomfortable if alcohol is not available?
  • Do you continue drinking when friends or family suggest you have had enough?
  • Have you ever felt guilty or ashamed about your drinking or what you did while under the influence?
  • Has your efficiency decreased as a result of your drinking?
  • When drinking, do you neglect to eat properly?
  • Do you drink alone?
  • Do you drink more than usual when under pressure, angry, or depressed?
  • Are you able to drink more now without feeling it, compared to when you first started drinking?
  • Have you lost interest in other activities or noticed a decrease in your ambition due to your drinking?
  • Have you had the shakes or tremors following heavy drinking or not drinking for some time?
  • Do you want to drink at a particular time each day?
  • Do you go on and off the wagon?
  • Is drinking jeopardizing your job?

If you only answer “yes” to one or two of these questions in our alcoholism quiz, you most likely do not have what is defined as AUD. If you answer “yes” to three or more, you should either self-evaluate how drinking affects you overall or speak to someone who can help you look more closely at whether or not drinking is genuinely a problem in your life.

Overall, if you have any thoughts or feelings that alcohol may be taking you to a point in your life that you are not comfortable with, please contact us to set up an initial consultation.
