Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms of Heroin Use Resurgence Behavioral Health

How to Tell if a Loved One is Using Heroin

Oftentimes, many people forget the fact that an addiction is a family disease. It’s classified this way because the heroin use of one person in the family seemingly impacts the lives of every member in the family in some way, shape or form. For instance, if a loved one is under the influence of heroin, it wouldn’t be uncommon for a family member to go to that person’s house to care for them or go above and beyond to ensure that they remain in good health.

If you suspect that a friend or a family member is struggling with an addiction to heroin, we encourage you to reach out to Resurgence Behavioral Health. Our team of addiction specialists can provide you with the insight that you need to spot certain telltale signs that can manifest as a result of heroin addiction.

Effects of Prolonged Heroin Use

There are many physical and psychological impacts of prolonged heroin use. First and foremost, this type of addiction can negatively impact the relationship that you have with your family. The physical problems that heroin can cause could ultimately result in death such as:

  • Heart issues
  • Injection site infections
  • Increased possibility of exposure to HIV/AIDS or hepatitis

A heroin overdose is an understandable concern among those that love a person that is suffering with an addiction to heroin. Here are some examples of signs of an overdose:
