Rochester Alcohol Detox

Top Rated Alcohol Detox Program for Residents of Rochester, NY

Located in scenic Monroe county, Rochester, New York is just a stone’s throw away from the Canadian border. If you grew up in the Rochester area or you’re a current resident there, you know that there is seemingly no shortable of things to do in the area. Whether you’re interested in doing something on your own or you would like to involve friends or family, there is always an event or a fun occasion going on in the Rochester area.

While Rochester is a wonderful place to live, it’s also filled with numerous people that may find themselves struggling with a serious disease known as addiction. Unfortunately, there is a common misconception that is associated with addiction in the sense that many people believe that a person chooses to have an addiction. However, addiction is not a choice but a disease that can slowly but surely impact every aspect of a person’s life.

If you find yourself suffering from this disease and you are ready to work toward overcoming it so that you can live a healthy life, the first step in the process may be for you to work through an alcohol detox program. At Resurgence Behavioral Health, we provide Rochester residents with the opportunity to remove the influence of alcohol from their minds and their bodies so that they can focus on receiving the care that they need through one of our treatment programs.

When is Alcohol Detox Necessary?

Working through an alcohol detox program in Rochester, NY is necessary when your addiction has become so severe that you begin to experience certain withdrawal symptoms if you don’t consume that level of alcohol again at a certain time. It’s possible that you may experience a plethora of symptoms which can include cravings, shakiness, nausea, anxiety, and feeling generally unwell. We will determine whether or not you need to first come to our alcohol detox based on the information that you provide to us during your initial phone call with our intake team.

Individualized treatment programs delivered in a comfortable, relaxed setting promote healing in your recovery journey.

Stages of Alcohol Withdrawal

The entire alcohol withdrawal process typically takes at least one week. However, it’s essential to remember that it’s probable that you will begin to experience withdrawal symptoms within just a few hours from the time that you take your last drink which is why we strongly recommend that you get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements for your care before you withdrawal symptoms become too severe.

Over the next few days, your withdrawal symptoms will grow in intensity. When you come to our alcohol detox, we will closely monitor these withdrawal symptoms to ensure that you’re never put in a position of dealing with possibly fatal withdrawal symptoms on your own. You will feel the height of your withdrawal symptoms within the first 72 hours. After that, these symptoms will begin to dissipate and you will begin to feel somewhat normal again. Although it’s possible that you can experience withdrawal symptoms at seemingly any point in your life, the symptoms that you feel after this initial week will not be as severe.

MAT for Alcohol Addiction

As addiction experts, we do everything that we can to help our clients be as comfortable as possible throughout their time in our alcohol detox and during their treatment program. This is one of the reasons why we encourage our clients to take advantage of MAT, also known as a medically assisted treatment. MAT will incorporate certain types of medications into your treatment plan which can help you to feel physically better and lessen the impact of your withdrawal symptoms. Once we learn more about you and your addiction, we will be able to provide you with more guidance regarding the right approach for you and a medically assisted treatment plan.

What Happens after Alcohol Detox?

Following your time in our alcohol detox program, you will have the opportunity to transition into one of our treatment programs. It’s important to remember that just because you didn’t drink during your time in alcohol detox doesn’t mean that you are instantly cured of this condition. There are certain steps that you need to take to recover psychologically from alcoholism as well. As you begin to approach the end of your time in our alcohol detox, we will speak with you in more detail about your options for rehab and work closely with you to develop a treatment plan that best suits your needs.

Alcohol Rehab Rochester

One of the questions that we commonly receive from many of our prospective clients revolves around what they can expect during their time in rehab after they have completed their alcohol detox. The premise of your plan for alcohol rehab is to provide you with the opportunity to participate in different forms of therapy so that you can come to a better understanding of the root cause of your addiction. This understanding will help you to work through these negative emotions that may be triggering your addiction so that you can work toward overcoming this disease once and for all.

IOP Alcohol Rehab

One of the most popular treatment options that we offer after you complete an alcohol detox program is an intensive outpatient program, also known as IOP. An IOP is more flexible in comparison to our inpatient program, however, the program does have more structure in comparison to our general outpatient program as you will need to complete a higher number of hours of the week in therapy than clients that work through our general outpatient program.

The main focus of our IOP will be relapse prevention. The reason for this is that you will be readily faced with different temptations but during the time that you are working through your IOP and for the rest of your life. Alcohol is available everywhere so it’s critical that you have a strong foundation when it comes to being able to manage and resist the disease of addiction setting back in. One of the leading types of therapy that you will experience during an intensive outpatient program is group therapy. This form of counseling will help you to develop your system of support so that you understand that there are people that you can turn to and lean on during the days that you may be feeling tempted or simply not having the best day. In turn, you will also have the opportunity to give that same level of support to other people. Through sharing and listening, you may come to realize things about yourself that you hadn’t noticed in the past.

Ongoing Recovery for Alcohol Addiction

While coming to our alcohol detox and rehab facility is critical to your overall recovery and well-being, it’s important to remember that these are only the first steps in a journey that will last you the rest of your life. It’s possible for you to fall prey to addiction at seemingly any time in your life which is why it’s critical that you continue to work on yourself and your recovery after you leave our treatment facility. We strongly recommend that every client that successfully completes our treatment program opt to enroll in our aftercare program which will provide you with a great opportunity to keep in touch with our team as well as develop new relationships with other Resurgence alumni. This is an opportunity that we will speak with you about once you get closer to the end of your time in treatment.

Another step that we encourage our clients to take once they complete treatment is to locate and attend 12-step meetings that are local to the Rochester area. It’s important that you continuously surround yourself with the right group of people for the rest of your life so that you can remain focused on what you need to do to maintain your sobriety. Attending regular 12-step meetings will help you to do just that. A 12-step meeting is very similar to a group therapy session in the sense that you will interact with other people that have experienced their own struggles with addiction. During these meetings, you will talk about different topics that are related to addiction, sobriety, and recovery and you can begin to develop a system of support that is local to you.
