Cocaine Detox San Antonio
Top Rated Cocaine Detox Program San Antonio
Cocaine is one of the drugs most abused in the United States. It is a highly addictive stimulant that is often found in party scenes and high-pressure work environments. It is usually snorted or injected and can also be smoked when treated with other chemicals to create ‘crack’.
The rush felt when using cocaine can be confused with happiness because it causes the user’s dopamine to rise quickly, increasing your heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure, which increases energy and elevates your mood, but it also wears off quickly. This “crash” is what eventually causes a cocaine habit to form, as you develop low mood, depression, and an overwhelming feeling of tiredness. You use more to feel normal, and over time, your brain will forget how to create dopamine on its own, making it even more difficult to feel pleasure without cocaine use.

Cocaine use is normalized in many people’s work cultures or social groups, but the people in these scenarios only tell you the positive parts of cocaine use, leaving out the long-term and dangerous health issues that cocaine addiction can cause. You can never be 100% certain what is in that white powder you are snorting or injecting. Unidentified drug cocktails can cause serious health problems and immediate overdose, especially if you are using cocaine alongside other drugs or alcohol. Other known health risks that come with cocaine use include paranoia, sinus issues, high blood pressure, seizures, and strokes.
For Cocaine Detox, San Antonio residents can contact Resurgence Behavioral Health. We are a cocaine detox San Antonio residents can count on. Resurgence is top-rated because we provide the recommended option of a medical detox program, along with a customized combination of integrated mental health, physical wellness, and counseling programs. What is Drug Detox?
Drug detox is the process you need to go through as your body rids itself of the cocaine in your system. There are many detox programs that have been designed to treat drug addiction, and at Resurgence, we provide a medically assisted treatment (MAT) program to help you deal with the uncomfortable side effects that come with quitting cocaine and help you detox in a safe and effective manner.
Detoxing is a necessary first step to recovery, but it is a short-term solution on its own. If you want to quit using cocaine for good, you will need to make deeper changes by getting to the root of your problem, going to behavioral therapy sessions, gaining sober-friendly coping skills, and working on your stress and triggers in productive ways through one-on-one and group therapy. A professional rehab program can get you started on the right foot after detoxing, and at Resurgence, our integrated continuum of care can help you become the best version of yourself.
Who Needs Cocaine Detox?

What to Expect in Cocaine Detox?
The first step when you enter a Resurgence cocaine detox program is going through our intake procedures. This is a process in which you undergo a medical exam, a psychological exam and we do an in-depth interview with you so that our team can get the full picture of your level of physical and mental health, your level of addiction, and who you are as a person. We will let you know exactly what to expect as you head into our detox facility, and we will work with you to create a customized treatment plan, including rehab and aftercare, that will best suit your needs, goals and budget.
You will then move into our detox center for the full length of time you are detoxing. The timeline for detoxing is different for everybody, depending on factors like:
- How often you were using cocaine
- How long you have been using cocaine
- How much cocaine you were using at one time
- Your physical and mental health as you enter your detox program
- Genetic variables
Although cocaine is mainly a psychologically addictive substance, a medically assisted treatment (MAT) program is highly recommended in case your withdrawal symptoms become too uncomfortable to bear or escalate to a dangerous level.
Most people begin to feel the onset of some minor withdrawal symptoms within 12 hours after the last use. You will feel fatigued, and as time goes on you will begin sweating and feeling agitated. By the end of the first day, you will experience nausea, insomnia, and brain fog, as well as some loss of motor control.
Around the 72-hours mark is where your symptoms will begin to peak and could become dangerous. You will experience extreme drug cravings, your blood pressure and breathing may change, and some people begin to have tremors, convulsions, and hallucinations. You may also experience serious mental health issues.

Many people will relapse at this point when attempting to detox at home, as it becomes too much to handle. After 5 to 7 days your symptoms will subside gradually and you will feel like you have the flu, and many will be able to function as normal within ten days, although for those with a severe addiction it can take a few weeks. You may still experience drug cravings, general anxiety, and uneasiness for as long as ten weeks after detox.
At Resurgence, we strongly recommend our MAT program to anyone detoxing from any addictive substance, so that we can keep you safe through 24-hour medical oversight and clinical care, and so we can ensure you don’t suffer unnecessarily as your body recalibrates itself to function without drugs in its system by providing FDA-approved, prescription doses of medication to help you with discomfort and restlessness.
MAT is a ‘whole patient approach to detoxing, meaning we not only help you stop using drugs, we also introduce therapy and counseling early in the process so you can begin to get to the underlying root of your addiction, deal with any unwanted thoughts and trauma that may come up during this difficult period, and so you never feel alone. We also begin treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions at this time because addiction and these conditions are usually interconnected and have the same causes underneath it all. It is the best way for you to be able to move on with your life, without needing drugs or alcohol to mask your mental health symptoms. Our clinical staff will help you to adjust, keep you as comfortable as possible, and avoid relapse when things get difficult.
Once you are deemed stable enough to move on, we will help transfer you directly into inpatient rehab, where we will follow the treatment plan as discussed with you, for the next step in your recovery journey.
