IOP Rehab for San Diego Residents

Top Rated IOP Rehab San Diego

Outpatient rehab is a treatment that usually involves daily sessions of counseling, therapy, or group sessions. The purpose of an intensive outpatient program is to allow you to live at home as you recover, so you can take care of your children, go to work or school, or attend to other important responsibilities in your life while receiving continued support, counseling, psychological treatment, and medical care to help you remain in recovery for the long-term.

You may be a good candidate for outpatient rehab if:

  • You have recently completed a residential treatment program
  • You feel ready and motivated to move out into the real world as a sober person
  • You are willing and able to responsibly show up for appointments on your own, including finding your own way to and from the appointments
  • You do not feel constant drug cravings or display other signs of relapsing
  • You have a solid grasp on your physical and mental health issues and do not require constant monitoring or medical care
  • You live in a supportive household (or sober living home), with a sober-friendly atmosphere and good, reliable people who will be there for you when you need them

In outpatient rehab, you will go to therapy, process groups, educational programs, counseling, and more to help you treat your addiction, living outside of the rehab facility, at home, or in a sober living home. It is a more cost-effective option and is much more flexible than inpatient rehab; a good option for people who cannot take time away from their families, work, or other important responsibilities.

We use trauma-informed care in all levels of treatment, taking into account that each of our patients has likely been through a lot in their lives. We will collaborate with you respectfully, so you feel comfortable trusting and being open with our care providers. Through open communication, informed consent, and patient empowerment, we will ensure you will not be held back by your trauma.

In the Resurgence top-rated intensive outpatient program (IOP) San Diego, you will come to our facility for flexible treatment that will work with your schedule as you live your life. We will collaborate with you to help you choose the outpatient program that is right for you, and monitor your progress over time, modifying your plan as your needs evolve.

What Makes a Top Rated IOP?

A top-rated IOP will:

  • Be connected with a medically assisted detox program
  • Provide integrated treatments that will heal your body and your mind in one combined program, preparing you for life after treatment rather than just focusing on your addiction
  • Have staff and doctors who use trauma-informed methodologies in their practice to ensure you feel safe and taken care of throughout treatment
  • Provide dual diagnosis treatments to work on mental health and underlying trauma at the same time as you are working on your addiction
  • Provide a full continuum of care so you can easily transition from one phase to the next in the same treatment center
  • Offer outpatient rehab on a flexible spectrum, so you can modify your program as your needs change. If you go through a difficult time, you may want to come to the center more frequently, or over time you may want to begin lessening the frequency and intensity of your visits.
  • Offer aftercare treatments long after your time in rehab has completed, because addiction is a long-term disease
  • Have connections to sober homes, and offer other sober community connections like an alumni group you can join for continued recovery support

What to Expect at IOP Rehab San Diego?

When you first come to our Resurgence Behavioral Health facility, there are a few steps you will need to take before entering your IOP program:

Intake – The first step is a full medical exam, a psychological screening, and an in-depth interview. We do all of this to learn about your level of addiction, your physical health, whether you have any co-occurring mental health issues that need dual diagnosis treatment, and to find out about you as a person so we can customize your treatment plan to best suit you.

Detox – Nearly every substance that creates a physical addiction will require a detox period. You will move into our detox center and be given the option of a medically assisted treatment, in which medications are provided to help with the withdrawal symptoms you may experience. You will have 24-hour medical oversight and be kept safe and comfortable in our drug- and alcohol-free detox center for the full length of your detox. We also provide therapy and counseling at this time and begin dual diagnosis treatments if needed.

Rehab – A minimum of 30 days in inpatient rehab is usually recommended as the next step after detox, but at Resurgence, we recognize that not everybody can take that much time out of their lives for addiction treatment, so we will work closely with you to create a customized program that will best suit your needs.

IOP – the IOP is a program where you live at home and commute into our outpatient center for therapy appointments, medical appointments, groups, and other counseling and programs, but it is all scheduled around your daily life so you can return to work, school or taking care of your family. We will help you figure out the best plan to suit your unique needs.

How is IOP Different Than Outpatient Rehab?

At Resurgence, IOP rehab San Diego is an integrated service that is part of a full continuum of care. It is flexible and can change alongside you as your needs evolve. If you find you are having a difficult time you can increase the intensity of your treatment, and if you want to begin phasing it out, we can help you work on your long-term exit plan and move you into aftercare treatment.

IOP Services

In an IOP, you will be able to have a more normal daily routine, through a science-based approach to addiction and recovery. We offer tailored outpatient rehab programs for each of our clients, that may include behavioral therapy, EMDR, 12-Step or SMART programs, peer process groups, talk therapy, and family or couples therapy.

Along with continued addictions services, at Resurgence we also offer referrals to sober living homes, connections with our sober alumni community, and continued access to the same medical and psychological health care providers so you won’t have trouble accessing care, finding a new doctor, or having prescriptions refilled.

The Goals of an IOP

The goals of an IOP include:

  • Providing the opportunity to apply your newly learned coping skills in real life scenarios, with full, continued support from our professional team
  • Forming healthier relationships with others who respect and support your sobriety, repairing relationships through couples and family therapy
  • Having continuous community-based support, making sober friends and knowing you can always count on the Resurgence team to be there if you need further support
  • Providing the freedom and flexibility for you to be able to adjust to life after detox and rehab
  • Ultimately getting you to a place where you can transition full-time back to your life as a sober person and achieve long-term recovery, using the coping skills and sobriety tools you’ve learned with us

Transitioning into an IOP will help you through the time when you first return to your regular routines, see old friends, and experience the stress, boredom, loneliness, and pressure of everyday life. These feelings may cause you to want to start using drugs or drinking again, which is why remaining in outpatient and aftercare is important. We can help you when it gets difficult.
