Flexible Treatment for Addiction Recovery Nevada

Flexible Treatment for Addiction Recovery Nevada

Having a substance addiction disorder is all too common in modern America, where about 20% of those who drink alcohol are alcoholic and about a quarter of illegal drug users have a drug addiction. If you or a loved one in the Silver State is struggling with a dependence on alcohol or drugs, you can get help and live a life free of substance abuse. Flexible treatment for addiction recovery in Nevada could be the solution you need to start living the life you want and deserve, without drugs or alcohol weighing you down.

What is Flexible Treatment for Addiction?

While residential facilities for inpatient treatment are great solutions for many of those who suffer from alcohol or drug addiction, they aren’t right for everyone. You may be worried about missing time from work or falling behind in school, or even missing time with your family if you spend a month or more in inpatient care.

For that reason, outpatient treatment is often a good solution that can help you kick the addiction for good. This type of care can last for some period of time, whatever you need to make sure that you can continue on your sobriety journey even after you “graduate” from the outpatient program.

In order to stay clean, you need to be 100% confident in your recovery and comfortable with strategies and techniques to help you deal with life once you’ve completed care. Flexible treatment allows you to stay in outpatient care for as long as you need in order to satisfy yourself that you’re ready to take on “outside” life.

Determining if Flexible Treatment is Right for You

Whether or not a flexible treatment for addiction recovery in Nevada is the best solution for you depends on several factors, including how long and how heavily you’ve been using drugs and alcohol, in addition to things like your physical and mental health when you arrive at the treatment center.

If you’ve been using drugs for a long period of time and have developed a significant tolerance, you may need to go through a medically assisted detox first. Withdrawal symptoms can be painful, but they typically peak in the first few hours to days after your last dose and linger for another week or so, depending on your specific situation. Going through a supervised detox with medication assistance helps you stay comfortable during the process so you don’t have to use to ease the pain, and medications can help eliminate cravings.

For most people with substance use disorders, drug use is the symptom, not the problem itself. Rehab, whether inpatient or outpatient, is designed to help you address the underlying issues that led to the addiction so that you don’t have to go back to using to feel good.

The next level of care after detox is a residential facility, where there’s a structure to every hour of the day and you won’t be faced with triggers that could result in relapse. Inpatient treatment allows you to focus completely on your own sobriety, without involving outside issues or others that you may have used in the past.

Usually, you’ll eat all three meals of the day in the company of the other residents. Mornings and afternoons are typically set aside for therapy, with a mix of individual and group sessions. The evenings after dinner are usually for hobbies and other fun activities instead of therapy, and everyone has lights out at the same time.

This structure can be especially helpful for those who have been spending their days getting and taking their drug, without regard for anything else in their lives.  For anyone whose drug use caused their lives to spiral into chaos, inpatient care is a good time to relearn the habits of daily living that can keep them off drugs.

Throughout the process, you’ll also be planning for aftercare: what you’ll do when there’s a trigger or learning to avoid triggers, who to call when you need help, and whether you’ll still continue in therapy after you’ve completed your treatment. When it comes to outpatient rehab, flexible treatment is in the different levels of care that you may find appropriate for your situation.

  1. Partial hospitalization

This is the most intensive level of outpatient care, and typically requires most of the weekday to be spent in therapy sessions, group, and individual. This gives you more time to practice good healthy habits so that they’ll be second nature when you need outside treatment. For example, life skills and stress management are important to learn so that you can soothe yourself instead of slipping or relapsing back into drug use.

  1. Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)

Although you’ll still spend plenty of time working on healthy habits and thoughts, these programs are usually held in the evenings or on weekends. That way you can go to school or work during the day and attend therapy afterward. Many professionals prefer to keep their addiction and recovery private, so an IOP is a good way for some people to get well.

  1. General outpatient

This level has the fewest hours and focuses on planning for life after treatment.

Is flexible treatment best for you? When you get to rehab, normally you’re assessed by the clinical staff to see where you need to start. Not everyone needs detox and inpatient care in order to get and stay clean. If your using “career” hasn’t been too long and you haven’t used drugs too heavily so you don’t need a medical detox, flexible treatment could be the way to go.

It’s also helpful if you haven’t become too dependent on the drug and you’re able to do regular things like socialize with friends or go to work or school while you’re actively using. If the drugs haven’t caused major changes in weight or overall physical health, you might look into a flexible treatment program.

Co-occurring disorders such as mental illness or ADHD are fairly common among addicts and alcoholics. You may have been diagnosed, but sometimes you might not have been before you get to treatment. Flexible care is normally best for those who don’t have co-occurring disorders, but even if you do have one you might still benefit.
